Angel Island 2023

This year’s Angel Island barbecue, picnic & pot luck was a party extravaganza! Even though the winds were brisk and the weather nippy, we all had a fantastic time.

Great turnout this year — altogether we had about 60 people participate. It was such fun to see some old friends (including Tom who donated Tashi to BAADS more than 20 years ago) and make many new ones.

Of course, it wouldn’t have been a party if our friends from SBYC didn’t join in the festivities!

The food was scrumptious and everyone, even vegans, had a wide variety to choose from. Thanks Terry!

We especially appreciate our grillmeisters, Reginald & Eddie for manning the barbecue and serving up the dogs, burgers & veggies. And providing some fireworks!

Paolo, Alex & Ryan carved up some tasty watermelon…Knives Out!

The biggest Hip Hip Hooray goes to Cristina, our party organizer extraordinaire. She not only bought all the food, drinks and paper goods but she also coordinated all of the boats, skippers and crew. Cristina got there so early to secure tables, she even had time to go around the perimeter trail exploring the island.

Thanks to all of the skippers including Jackie, Jeff, Chris, Jeremy and Alex and their many crew for sailing the boats over. It wouldn’t be a BAADS event if it didn’t involve multiple sailboats. T’was the first time sailing for a handful of the crew so it will be hard to top that trip especially with so much good food waiting on the island.

Just because photographers never (rarely ever!) get a photo 😉 Kat & Josh pic snagged from Kelly’s Facebook site, thanks Kelly!

Several of the boats spotted a whale in the bay. Nina was even able to get a video to capture the “Thar She Blows” moment.

We had not one, not two not even three, but four potato salads!
Melissa & Zola + Corncobs = good friends~!

This was so much fun there was talk that BAADS should organize another Angel Island barbecue this fall when the weather is usually much warmer. If you were not there, you have to be at our next one. For those of you who were there and have photos you would like to share, please send them to Josh.
