2021 Standing Committees & Chairpersons
Boat Donation Committee: Alex Hruzewicz boatdonations@baads.org
Responsible for reviewing any possible boat donations. Works with Commodore, keelboat and directors to determine whether boat should be acquired by organization. Recommends to board possible boats to become program boats. Develops budget and timetable for donated boats to be sold. Notifies Treasurer, Finance Director and Commodore when all IRS and DMV paperwork is done correctly on acquired boats. Works with Commodore to provide donor recognition.
Racing Committee: Jim Thweatt (small boats) &
Walt Rainier (keelboats including Sonar & blind racing racing@baads.org
Works with Racing Director to organize trainings and coordinate regatta participation for all racers. Manages logistics, maintenance and racing for Sonar. Identifies funding sources to support racing for organization and individuals. Solicits community resources and organizes training programs on race tactics, understanding racing rules and racing clinics to develop the skills of all BAADS racers.
Bosun: Gary Goldsborough bosun@baads.org
Ensures keelboats are safe for sailing. Makes repairs on keelboats and Whalers. Regularly inspects keelboats and whalers. Performs regular maintenance on all BAADS motors and engines. Determines and notifies Keelboat Director(s) and/or Scheduler if boats should be taken offline and notifies them when boats are back online. Keeps log showing completed work and repairs. Ensures dock is clean and equipment is available.
Small Boat Bosun: John Wallace bosun@baads.org
Ensures small boats are safe for sailing. Coordinates and performs regular maintenance and makes repairs on boats and accessibility equipment. Stands in as dock master as needed.
