1) Channels/Uses:
a. 16- Distress/Calling (U.S. Inland Waters)
b. 14- San Francisco Bay Harbor Control
c. 13- Distress/Calling (International Waters)
d. WB- Weather Band

2) Controls:
a. On/Off; Volume
b. Squelch
c. Push-to Talk Microphone
d. Channel Selector

3) Proper Communications:
a. Call-Up:
i. “Tashi, this is Raven, over”
b. Answer:
i. “This is Tashi, over”
c. Agreement:
i. “This is Raven, Roger, over”
d. End Call:
i. “This is Raven, Out.”

4) Radio Check:
a. “Tashi, this is Raven, Radio Check, over”
b. “This is Tashi, read you loud and clear, over”
c. “This is Raven, read you same, out.”

5) MAYDAY Call:
a. “MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY, This is XXX, XXX, XXX, over”
b. State the following:
i. WHO you are
ii. WHERE you are
iii. WHAT is wrong
iv. ASSISTANCE desired
v. NUMBER of people onboard; Condition(s)
vi. Present SEAWORTHINESS of vessel
vii. Vessel DESCRIPTION
viii. CHANNEL you will monitor & schedule
