Dinghy Committee

Dear dinghy folks,
To ensure the dinghy program can continue to function we would like to put up a committee structure to support and improve the program.
We have formed a “dinghy committee“. This committee focuses on the basic needs of the program (I outline 4 priorities below). Members to this date include:
Charles Wienbar, Eli Frank, Jeff Breen, John Greener, John Wallace, Josh McPhail, Julia Okrut, Kathi Pugh. We hold meetings via skype every 2 weeks.
We encourage you to send us your input by visiting the BAADS contact page and choosing Dinghy Committee from the dropdown.

Please be understanding though if we prioritize not to work directly on the issue you raise. We feel that it is paramount for us to focus on the priorities (see below) in order to make some headway.
We will also send out meeting agendas and minutes to an adjunct group of people to get feedback and share information (e.g. Allen Darnell, Cristina Rubke, Ed Bridges, Nettie Wijsman, Rommel Barrientos, Steve Pendas). Please let me know if you would like to join this list (just reply to this email). Expect at least 4 emails per month.
There is still a lot more work to do. We are about to form a ‘racing committee‘, which will organize competitive race training & races. Please contact Kathi Pugh if you are interested in joining this group.

Furthermore we plan to reach out to people individually for specified tasks (like chase boat training or outreach).

In hope of your support,

Julia (for the dinghy committee)

Dinghy Committee Priorities:

1. Status Quo
Keep the program running. Distribute the amount of work on enough shoulders to avoid burn-out. Organize / discuss maintenance and volunteer coordination.
2. Documentation
Establish and implement procedures for the dinghy dock.
E.g. decide on how do we put our boats away / where we keep stuff.
3. Basic Training
Organize training for sailing as well as for safety boat operation.
4. Outreach

Recruit more people who can help to run the program. To find more skilled people (as far as sailing / organizational support goes) we would like to reach out to yacht clubs and disability organizations.
