ORGANIZING AUTHORITY

This event is organized under the authority of the Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors (BAADS) and the South Beach Yacht Club Race Committee

GOVERNING RULES

The race will be governed by the rules defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing - 2008-2012, edition.

REGATTA AREA

The racing area will be in the McCovey Cove area adjacent to the South Beach Harbor and the Southern part of San Francisco Bay.

ELIGIBILITY

Open event to all disabled and severely disabled sailors of Liberty, Liberty/Servo, 303 Wide, and 2.3 Classes.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry forms may be downloaded here.  Entry forms should be submitted to BAADS c/o Regatta Chairman by October 16, 2009 with the entry Fee of $10 payable to BAADS.

REGISTRATION & BOAT ASSIGNMENT

Boats will be furnished by BAADS and the Treasure Island Sailing Center.  Priority for skippers and crew to use the boats will be given in order to Severely Disabled Sailors, Disabled Sailors, and Able-Bodied crew members.  The Regatta Organizing Committee will have sole discretion in determining who will sail if there are not enough boats to satisfy the demand.  Boat assignments will be made by the Regatta Organizing Committee.  Registration and boat assignment will be available beginning at 9 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2009 in the South Beach Harbor Community Room.

CLASSES TO BE SAILED

  • Liberty Class - Two Divisions -13 boats:
  • Disabled Skippers not using Servo - Electric System
  • Severely Disabled Skippers using Servo - Electric System
  • 303 Wide Class - 9 boats - Open Class - 1 or  2 persons with minimum of one-person being Disabled.
  • 2.3 Wide and Single Class - 4 boats - Open Class 1 or 2 persons with a minimum of one-person being Disabled.

SPECIAL FEES AND DEPOSITS     

Charter fees, Insurance fees and damage deposits are yet to be determined. The Charter period will cover October 16 through October 19, 2009.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS AND SKIPPERS MEETINGS

Sailing Instructions will be available at check-in on Friday, October 16, 2009.
Skippers Meetings will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. and Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the South Beach Harbor Community Room.

SCHEDULE OF RACES

Practice Races are scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Two Races are scheduled each day for the all Classes on Saturday and Sunday.  At the discretion of the Race Committee, one additional race can be added on Saturday or Sunday if there is adequate time permitting to do so. Two races will constitute a Regatta.  When four or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score (one throw out).

RACE COMMITTEE AND COURSES

The Race Committee, Signal Boat, Mark Setting Boat, and Support Boats will be provided by the South Beach Yacht Club and BAADS.  Courses to be sailed will be Start, Windward - Leeward, Finish with the number of laps to be determined by the Race Committee.

SOCIAL

All competitors, volunteers, guests, race committee, SBYC and BAADS members are welcome on --
Friday Night: No Host Bar at the South Beach Yacht Club. 
Saturday Night: No Host Bar and Dinner -- Both are not available at the South Beach Yacht Club. Therefore, Dinner will be on your Own.  The South Beach Yacht Club has its annual fund-raising auction.  If you want to attend the fund-raising auction and dinner, you must sign-up in advance with the event coordinator at the South Beach Yacht Club
Sunday Night: No Host Bar, Heavy Horsd’oeuvres and Awards following the last Race at approximately 5:00 pm.
